About Event

Greetings! We are extremely excited to announce The Vinod Chowdhury Memorial Lecture for the year 2021.

The Vinod Chowdhury Memorial Event is one of the most prestigious events organized by The Economics Society, St. Stephen's College. This annual event is organized in the fond memory of our former department head Mr. Vinod Chowdhury. It is a prestigious two-part event, consisting of a lecture by a guest speaker followed by a debate competition.

About Prof. Rohini Pande

The lecture will be given by Prof. Rohini Pande. She is the Henry J. Heinz II Professor of Economics and Director of the Economic Growth Center at Yale University. Her research is largely focused on how formal and informal institutions shape power relationships and patterns of economic and political advantage in society, particularly in developing countries. She is also a co-chair at the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL), a Board member of the Bureau of Research on Economic Development (BREAD) and a former co-editor of The Review of Economics and Statistics. We believe it will be a great opportunity for students to hear insights from such a reputable speaker in the field of economics.
