GLC Coffee Corner Call - Brave Conversations Part 1

​The Global Learning Community and Freedom Collaborative are excited to join together to offer a series we are calling "Brave Conversations." These are the topics that frustrate us, that worry us, and that don't always have clear or easy answers. They are the conversations that we have with close friends in the sector, but are rarely presented in a public space precisely because of their complexity.

​Our first Brave Conversation is on the topic of funding. The reality is that the landscape of funding is changing. The global economy is fragile and millions of dollars have been lost to the sector from the shuttering of USAID. But the real question is, "does it really matter?" How much of our funding is lost to reporting and admin rather than providing services? Is there a more strategic way to work within communities and through volunteers and in merging with similar organizations? Are we funding our organizations or funding the movement itself? How can we communicate this difference with donors?
