The event will include the exhibition of unseen works by artists Sophia Lubrano, Sarah Dixon, and Sean Hamilton, as they explore intimate and pertinent themes of Americana in the heart of Paris.
This highly sought-after collection will be displayed in the top-floor apartment suite of Cravan's five-story cultural landmark in Saint Germain des Prés, a space normally closed to the public.
In addition to viewing the exceptional showcase of paintings, guests will enjoy private discussions with the artists and curator, alongside a vibrant party featuring a curated culinary and cocktail experience by Cravan, complete with a live DJ and indulgent pairings from renowned chefs and mixologists.
We look forward to hosting you. À bientôt.
Sophia Lubrano
Works found in Lubrano’s Cowboy and Cowgirl series, are intentionally unfinished — the subject's head, face, and hat is rendered in proficient detail while the upper torso is outlined in clean, dynamic strokes. The artist’s deliberate restraint towards figuration communicates a unique celebration of the painterly process. Lubrano’s investigation of rustic themes is rooted in her upbringing in rural New Hampshire, through which she explores memory, nostalgia, and the visages of those closest to her.
Sarah Dixon
Dixon's paintings are an attempt to harmonize the contradictions of the human experience, embracing both the beauty and brutality of existence. She invites viewers to immerse themselves in the intimate, provocative, ironic, and vulnerable world she’s created, where she grapples with dissolving the boundaries between the physical and spiritual.
Sean Hamilton
After a frustrating career in advertising, Hamilton chose to apply the same ad-world visual immediacy to canvas – exploring issues and themes that are close to him through a contemporary lense. His paintings often aim to create a forced set of priorities and questions using intentional image pairing and image placing. The forms and compositions range from rural life to political and social absurdity, to the disconnect in male and female representation through imagery mostly from another era. However, through his recurring themes, Hamilton’s works can throw today’s social landscapes into sharp relief.
