August 2025 Edition of Ńkàtà Ụ́mụ̀ Íbè
For too long, Ndị Ìgbò have been vocal about political marginalisation, and rightly so. But beyond the justified outcry, what structures and narratives have continued to silence the Ìgbò voice in national discourse, and how can we reclaim it?
This August, veteran broadcaster and renowned journalist EbubeDike VinMartin Ilo will take the Ńkàtà stage to deliver a timely and powerful lecture on the topic:
ÌGBÒ EBEZINA: RECLAIMING THE ÌGBÒ VOICE IN NATIONAL CONVERSATIONS.
In this critical lecture, VinMartin Ilo will examine the trajectory of Ìgbò political participation and representation since the return to democratic rule. He will argue that while grievances are valid, strategic engagement and media positioning are the real game changers.
He will also interrogate how mainstream media shapes perception and wields influence, and why reclaiming narrative power is crucial for the resurgence of Ndị Ìgbò in national leadership and identity.
