tastyhacks '24 berkeley
inspired by the viral Twitter blog post on Taste, the residency and friends are organizing Tasty Hacks, to inspire and rehabilitate closeted creatives by creating projects for the beauty of them than utility.
This hackathon will be traditional in that there are prizes and judges, but everything else goes out the door. Trade in Costco pizza for home-cooked meals and API workshops for "how to make music with household items". This is where technology meets craft and whimsy, and we'd love to see what you guys come up with!

First place: $1500 cash and $3000 in travel credits

we are looking for nerdy and kind people who want to be surrounded by like-minded folks. and make things they love in this 32-hour period of grind.
people coming from all walks are trades are welcome, as long as you’re willing to work together! if you don’t have a team, trust us you'll find your people here if we accept you!
the goal is to have hackathon be small with only 20-30 people. (edit* this may be slightly adjusted due to influx of awesome people :) )
it should feel less like a hackathon and more like a family-style co-working session! :)
the judging criteria is simply four things: artistic merit, uniqueness. amount of progress made, & whimsy. you can work on ideas you've worked on before (yes, even your own companies), but we challenge you to try to add 'taste' to whatever it is.
