We’re pleased to invite you to our next seminar, focused on the theme of medtech manufacturing, hosted at BAMS in Clayton.
The seminar will feature discussions on manufacturing medtech, the challenges and elements involved and journey to commercialisation. With presentations by Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions (BAMS), Navi Medical Technologies and a facilitated panel discussion by CSIRO, this event will be one not to miss!
We’re looking forward to seeing you there and getting to meet everyone during the dedicated networking breaks. For participants unable to attend in person, there will be a recording uploaded to Canvas a week or two after the event. About our speakers
Dr Simon Cook
Executive Director – Product & Technology at Eudaemon Technologies
Simon Cook is Co-Founder and Executive Director, Product & Technology at Eudaemon Technologies, a med-tech company dedicated to advancing innovative solutions in sexual and reproductive health. He also leads his biotechnology advisory firm, SMC Advisory, as Principal and Director and serves as an Adjunct Senior Research Fellow at Swinburne University of Technology.
Simon earned his PhD in Molecular Microbiology and Bacterial Pathogenesis from the University of Wollongong, after which he joined the team working on Project Geldom, a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded initiative, initially providing specialist microbiology expertise. He quickly advanced to become the technology lead and co-founded Eudaemon in 2018. As Executive Director, he has successfully secured substantial grant funding and actively oversees day-to-day developmental operations, strategy planning, and product readiness.
Over the past decade Simon has built a diverse range of technical skills and expertise spanning biotechnology, microbiology, product development, Industry 4.0, manufacturing, materials science, and consumer and clinical trials.
A recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Future Scholarship, Simon conducted groundbreaking research in biofeedback and neuroscience-based consumer engagement at the Kinsey Institute in the USA. He continues to play a significant role in the MedTech sector, driving the development and commercialisation of next-generation medical devices.
Louisa De Vries
Head of Manufacturing Consulting, Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions
Louisa is a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for manufacturing, technology, and innovation. She joined Bosch in 2021 after a distinguished career in the automotive and transport industries spanning over 20 years and three years as a research engineer and lecturer at Swinburne University of Technology. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she played an important role in key projects to re-invigorate local manufacturing.
In her current role as Head of Manufacturing Consulting, Louisa leads a team dedicated to supporting manufacturers in areas such as commercialization, manufacturing strategy, process optimisation, and expansion.
JiaYee Lee
Director of Strategy and Alliance, BioNTech
JiaYee has a diverse career spanning technology innovation, medical research and commercialisation. She is currently based at the BioNTech Innovation Centre in Melbourne where she plays are key role in developing Australia’s mRNA R&D ecosystem for Immunotherapeutics. Prior to joining BioNTech, JiaYee was at the University of Melbourne as Enterprise Professor in MedTech and Director for the Centre for Advanced Defence Research and Enterprise. Jia Yee was previously the Director of the Health and Life Sciences Business Team at National ICT Australia (NICTA, now Data61 CSIRO). JiaYee previously led virology research at the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory and MacFarlane Burnet Centre (now Burnet Institute). JiaYee currently has an Adjunct Professor appointment from La Trobe University.
Mubin Yousuf
CO-Founder, CTO Navi Medical Technologies
Mubin is the Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer at Navi Medical Technologies, a Melbourne-based paediatric medical device company that is working towards improving patient outcomes by providing a more accurate method of determining catheter tip location. His previous work experience includes serving as a Research Engineer in the Cardiovascular Bioengineering team at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. In his current role, his focus is towards day-to-day product development, clinical, regulatory, and IP related activities. Mubin also supports commercial and fundraising activities in the company.
