Mental Health Month Special Q&A: Ask Me Anything On Parenting Neurodiversity
Free Q&A: Parenting Neurodiversity — Real Talk for Mental Health Month
Many of us are parenting neurodivergent children long before we realise that’s what we’re doing. Diagnosis often comes late (if at all), and even then, support can be patchy, inaccessible, or just not enough. So we’re left figuring it out on the fly: questioning ChatGPT at 2am, testing different approaches, and wondering if we’re getting any of it right. All the while probably torturing ourselves and feeling like a crap mum/dad.
This free Q&A is a space I want to create to talk honestly about parenting neurodivergence; the challenges, the confusion, loneliness, frustration and all the weird and wonderful joy.
Whether you’re coming at this early in the journey, knee-deep in school meetings, or want to learn how to better support someone you care about/work with please come with your questions or even just come to listen.
I’m Amy: a consultant, founder/operator in the London VC Ecosystem, and most importantly, mum of two brilliant neurodivergent boys.
I believe my background working with startups, often at the forefront of innovation, inadvertently provided me with some useful life skills for parenting neurodivergence!
My nature is to attack challenges relentlessly with multiple approaches, and this method of problem-solving has enabled me to learn and optimise on the job as a mum and advocate.
Constant pivoting, troubleshooting and testing in my professional life has turned out to be surprisingly good prep for my parenting journey; my life’s greatest work.
I’ve learned a huge amount from trial, error, and an informal but brilliant network of other parents and I’d love to share what I can.
I’m not a clinician. I’m not an expert. But I’m in it, and I want to help. I can promise no jargon and no judgment and in all likelihood a little bit of swearing and satire.
