Supporting our Parents: Finances, Legal Status & Counseling
As our parents grow older, many of us in the second generation find ourselves facing new questions and responsibilities — especially ones that aren’t often talked about in everyday life. How can we best support our parents here in Germany and/or Vietnam — legally and financially? What’s allowed, what’s smart, and what can actually save us taxes?
At this OV event, we want to create a space to talk about exactly that — in a way that’s practical and grounded in real-life needs. 🤝 Ái Ngân Lê, Head of Business Immigration of the law firm O. Law, will give us insights around the following topics:
How can I support my parents financially — in a tax-smart and legal way? For that, a trusted tax advisor will be there to answer our questions.
What does the path to naturalization or long-term residency look like for those parents who don’t have German citizenship yet? We’ll discuss requirements, available options and share real-life experiences.
Where can we turn for legal, financial or emotional support? We’ll introduce helpful counseling services where you can find further support for your parents and your individual needs.
There will be a Q&A session for all your questions and a networking opportunity for you over food and drinks to share your thoughts!
