​What happens when we reimagine media as artifacts; materials that evolve over time, shifting in meaning, form, and purpose? How do AI tools allow us to explore new genealogies of media, iterating and expanding their stories like a modern myth?

​Join us for Future Artifacts, a two-hour virtual workshop where artists, designers, and futurists will learn how to use Fuser, an AI-powered creative platform, to transform media into evolving artifacts from the future.

​Using LLMs (Large Language Models) and diffusion models, participants will explore the origins, present state, and speculative future of a selected artifact—be it an image, video, audio sample, or even a text fragment. Through iterative processes, you will engage with AI as a creative collaborator, shaping the narrative, aesthetics, and mythology of your chosen artifact.

​By the end of this workshop, you will:

​📀 Engage with AI as a storytelling tool – Use LLMs to analyze and interrogate your artifact, uncovering hidden narratives and generating speculative histories.
💿 Transform media through iterative AI processes – Leverage diffusion models and generative AI to reimagine your artifact over multiple versions, seeing how it mutates across time.
📀 Create a genealogy of your artifact – Map its past, present, and/or speculative future to develop a rich lore around its existence.
💿 Develop a unique creative workflow with AI – Learn how to integrate AI into your artistic practice using Fuser’s suite of tools for working with text, image, video, and sound.
📀 Think critically about AI and media evolution – Reflect on how AI-generated content influences meaning-making, authorship, and the preservation (or distortion) of history.

​Fuser is a unified platform for experimenting, researching, and co-creating with AI across multiple media types, including text, image, video, and sound. It allows users to bridge the gap between machine intelligence and human creativity. Fuser is a playground and workbench for those looking to push the boundaries of generative AI in art, design, and storytelling.

​🪞🪩 How to Prepare

​🟠 Have a Fuser account ready. Sign up for an alpha account at here. We will send an invitation to all registered users.

​🟠 You will need to join the zoom event with a computer to participate in the session.

​🟠 Prepare an artifact – Choose a piece of media to work with. This could be:

• ​A personal artwork (illustration, photograph, video clip, soundbite)

• ​A found object (public domain images, old photos, historical text, a passage from a book)

• ​A concept (an idea, a phrase, a fictional relic)

​🟠 No prior AI experience required – This workshop is designed for both beginners and advanced users. If you’re new to AI tools, we’ll guide you through the process.
