Neurodivergents Unite
Overall purpose:
To provide a safe space free of judgement where neurodivergents (millennials and Gen Z)from all backgrounds can gather together, have insightful discussions, share ideas, and connect. It's also free!
Who is this for?
This group is primarily aimed at Millennials and Gen Z who are diagnosed with or suspect that they have a neurodivergent condition. These include autism, ADHD, dyslexia, among others.
However, anyone, neurodivergent or not, is welcome to attend.
Duration: 2 hours
The event is divided into three rounds:
Round 1: Ice-Breaker Dialogue
Attendees will answer card prompts in small groups. If time permits, they can answer them all, and go their own direction in the discussion. These prompts are mostly light in tone.
Round 2: April Dice
This game will involve each person in the group taking turns rolling a dye, which will prompt them to perform a certain action depending on the roll:
Roll a 1: Make up a pop quiz question about any subject you want. It can be in any format, true/false, multiple choice, etc).
Roll an even number: Two truths, one lie. Make three statements about yourself, and the rest will try to guess which one is the lie, and whoch ones are true.
Roll a 3 or 5: Come up with an opinion or statement regarding any topic you wish. And then see who agrees or disagrees. Also, feel free to dive into differences in opinions, in a respectful manner, free of invalidation.
Round 3: Deeper Dicussions
Like Round 1, this round involves being in groups and answering prompt questions. However, the questions are more serious in nature, and are mainly related to aspects of life as a neurodivergent.
End:
A closing discussion and upcoming announcements.
Breaks and sensory accommodations: There will be breaks lasting around 5-10 minutes in between rounds to give people time to decompress and loosen up before the next round.
People are encouraged to excuse themselves as needed during a round to take a sensory break. Also, fidget/stim toys are encouraged if they help. We want everyone to feel comfortable and safe. Of course, if you need to leave the event early for any reason, that is completely understandable.
