🦖Dinosaurs of the Gobi 恐龙传奇与戈壁探险
The Gobi Desert, spreading across north China, Mongolia, and central Asia, signifies its harsh environment and splendid views. There has also yielded the most well preserved dinosaur fossils around the world, including the famous Velociraptor, Protoceratops, and Tarbosaurus. The expedition to the Gobi Desert was started more than 100 year ago, generations of paleontologists have been attracted to walk, live, and work there. In today’s speech, Dr. Congyu Yu will introduce the fossil discovery history in the Gobi Desert for the last century, and how the dinosaur fossils from the Gobi change our view on them, and his personal experience in the Gobi as a paleontologist.
The speech will be followed by fun activities including 3D mini Dinosaur Fossils Dig Excavation and Dinosaur Toy Painting.
Speaker Intro:
Congyu Yu is a paleontologist working on dinosaurs and other ancient animals. He received his bachelor in life science in Peking University, China, then received his Phd in paleontology from Columbia University and the American Museum of Natural History. He is currently a professor at Chengdu University of Technology. His research primarily focuses on dinosaurs discovered from the Gobi Desert, especially a group called Ceratopsia, the horned dinosaurs (including Triceratops and Protoceratops). He is also interested in applying artificial intelligence and other quantitative methods in fossil data analysing.
