Pandora's Promise Screening & Q&A with Director
Despite recent shifts in the federal government’s position, we must urgently transition to carbon-free energy and enable equitable energy access to billions around the world. It is essential that we explore our technology options with critical thinking and an open mind.
To this end, the Green Team of the First Unitarian Congregational Society in Brooklyn invites you to a screening of Pandora’s Promise, a 2013 documentary by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Robert Stone. Set in a post-Fukushima world, the film follows the journey of prominent environmentalists as they reconsider long-held assumptions about civilian nuclear energy and explore its potential role in combating climate change.
Public opinion on nuclear power has risen substantially since the production of this documentary, but questions about cost, safety, sustainability, environmental justice remain. This event is an opportunity to engage with those questions deeply and honestly.
Following the 90-minute screening, we’ll host a Q&A session with director Robert Stone, also known for Earth Days (2009), which chronicles the rise of environmentalism, and Radio Bikini (1987), an acclaimed anti-nuclear weapons documentary.
