Join us for a private screening of Boca Chica, the breathtaking debut film by Gabriella A. Moses, a proud Mami Chula whose visionary storytelling premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival to critical acclaim. Her powerful direction has earned her a nomination for Best Director at Los Premios Soberanos, one of the Dominican Republic’s most prestigious film awards.
Set in the Dominican Republic, Boca Chica follows Desi, a young girl who spends her days dreaming on the beaches of her hometown of becoming a famous singer but her goal is threatened by lies, the ever-presence of child prostitution, and the looming sinister betrayal from those who should protect her most.
After the film, join us for an intimate Q&A with Gabriella where we will dive deep into themes presented in the film.
