About this Event

The emergence of blockchain technology has created new opportunities for artists, creators, and collectors. Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have revolutionized the way we think about ownership and provenance in the digital world, allowing for the creation and trade of unique digital assets that are verifiably scarce and authentic. While the initial hype around art NFTs faded out, digital assets are becoming an essential part of the finance sector.

Regulators and policymakers play a vital role in managing the crypto art sector's growth while safeguarding both artists and consumers. Despite blockchain's decentralization, regulation is necessary to mitigate risks like financial volatility and money laundering. On the other hand, over-regulation can lead to a decline in innovation and a monopolization of the market. Besides that, the transparent nature of blockchains makes money laundering very difficult.

This event is part of the ARTeCHÓ project. ARTeCHÓ is a European initiative to unleash the potential of the emerging art ecosystem, created by five European institutions: Startup Europe Regions Network (SERN), Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, Meet Digital Center, Baltan Laboratories and Frankfurt School Blockchain Center (FSBC).

Join our insightful discussion on policy recommendations for digital art, elaborating on the following questions:

  • “Blockchains, NFTs, Metaverse” - Which potential do they offer, and how are they interacting?

  • Are digital assets a chance for creatives to drive more value and attention to digital art?

  • Are current regulations such as MiCA supporting creatives in digital art and digital assets?

  • How can policymakers support the digital art ecosystem?

During the immersive online panel, you can directly engage our speakers with your questions. We can't wait to have you join us for this upcoming event!
