About Event

Are you excited about data? Are you looking for ways to deal with messy real-world data that maybe isn't as clean as what you get from a classroom or kaggle competition? Or perhaps you want to learn how to prepare data to be used by the latest AI tool. Then this workshop is for you!

This FREE WiDS workshop (limited to 50 participants) consists of three hands-on data wrangling sessions in R and Python.

What we'll do:

  9:30 - 10:00 - Welcome/Networking
10:05 - 10:20 - So...We cleaned the data. Now what?
10:20 - 11:30 - Data Preprocessing, plotting: hands on workshop in R
11:30 - 11:40 - Break
11:40 - 12:00 - R dplyr Basics
12:00 - 13:30 - Lunch break
13:30 - 14:00 - Data Prep for AI: hands on workshop in Python
14:00 - 15:00 - Networking and personal projects

Bring: Your laptop and your own data.

We'll have project time, if you want to try what you learned on your own data, lab assistants can circulate to help! 👩🏻‍💻. You're also encouraged, but not required, to join and form teams for the WiDS Datathons in 2024.
