โ€‹๐ŸŽถ What a long strange trip it's been ๐ŸŽถ

โ€‹It's been quite a wild 18 months, to say the least. We all need a moment to take a step back and reconnect. This is your opportunity to get together with fellow child care leaders to renew ourselves and rebuild our programs. Come for the weekend or just a day trip, and leave refreshed and full of knowledge.

โ€‹About the event

โ€‹The event is Saturday, November 6th, from 10:30am to 3:00pm on the Palm Valley School campus. The event is designed for Southern Californians to drive to and back in one day, and for Northern Californians to fly in and out in one day. But we certainly hope you'll spend the weekend if possible.

โ€‹Health and safety

โ€‹We're starting small and safe here: we're requiring C-19 vaccinations for all attendees, optimizing the schedule to maximize time outdoors, and masking and socially distanced inside. We're also capping attendance to keep this event smaller than usual.

โ€‹The agenda is in development, but expect it to include sessions like:

  • โ€‹Update on critical licensing changes

  • โ€‹What you need to know about Transitional Kindergarten and how to prepare

  • โ€‹Managing illness and absences of families and staff

  • โ€‹Relaxation sessions like yoga or meditation

  • โ€‹Opportunities to safely connect with child care leaders and share experiences and knowledge

  • โ€‹If you're staying the night(s), time by your hotel pool and a myriad of outdoor activities, like taking the rotating Aerial Tramway up to the San Jacinto Peak

โ€‹Why Palm Springs?

โ€‹We've always done events in major metropolitan areas. But this time around, we believe we could all use a break and get "out there" a bit to relax and restore ourselves. With highs in the upper 70's, November is without a doubt the best time to go to Palm Springs.

โ€‹Getting there and where to stay

โ€‹Driving from Los Angeles and San Diego is easy and affordable direct flights are available from most major California airports. If you're flying, book your flight soon. Check Southwest and other major airlines.

โ€‹Since we're keeping the event small, we're not reserving a room block. We've found hotels in each price range near the event space. There are tons of additional hotel and Airbnb options in Rancho Mirage and central Palm Springs.
