Three Ideas About Progress: 墨子
Three Ideas About Progress is a lecture mini-series from the Toronto Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge presented by Daybreak Studio.
The Philosophy of the 墨子: The Posture of Progress
In this last lecture we will look at the posture needed to continue progress on into the future. Our investigation though will start in an unlikely place: The 5th century BC prior to the first unification of the Chinese state. What can the thought of Mòzǐ an itinerant philosopher from this warring states period teach us about the necessary ingredients for progress?
The discussion will draw on passages from the Mòzǐ as well as the work of Chris Fraser.
After the lecture we will be hosting a social hour with drinks, and vinyl spinning. There will be music, good vibes, deep conversation and maybe even dancing? No matter what it's going to be groovy.
We hope you will be able to join us.
