About Event

How might LA’s recovery from the January fires lay a  foundation for a more resilient Los Angeles (and beyond)?

Join SidePorch for Resilience & Rebuilding Day, a specialized LA Climate Week event hosted at Crosscut Ventures.

This half-day convening will gather a range of professionals, investors, developers, bankers and policy-makers to explore how capital, tech, and policy can drive resilience and smarter recovery. We'll dig into what's working, what's missing, and where the biggest opportunities lie.

The event will include:

  • Two Expert Panel Sessions

  • Story-telling and vignettes by resiliency experts and local community members

  • Coffee Break and Lunch

  • News and Announcements from LA fire recovery insiders

  • Receptions and early evening drinks

Panel Session 1: Insurance, re-Building & Policy Needs

Led by Allan Marks, this panel brings together voices from insurance, finance, and government. Speakers from The Resiliency Company, USGBC California, and some of the largest players in reinsurance will unpack how updated risk models, permitting reform, and public-private partnerships are redefining how we rebuild.

Panel Session 2: Investing in Solutions for Resiliency

Moderated by Iván Markman, this session explores how early-stage capital and tech are reshaping disaster response. Hear from DBL Partners, Lower Carbon Capital, Third Sphere, and various portfolio companies, for example Cosmic Buildings, on what they're backing–from fire-resilient housing to advanced building materials–and how these solutions are designed to meet the moment.

SidePorch is proud to organize this event as part of its ongoing work at the intersection of climate adaptation, technology, and policy.
