About Event

Some interventions are complex with changes that are harder to measure. It may not be easy to discover credible indicators or record a simple number. So how do you know if your intervention is generating results?

Join our webinar on Tuesday 5 November to learn about qualitative evaluation methods such as Outcome Harvesting and Impact Logging. During this free Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning session, Sophie Gulliver will share her ample knowledge and experience with designing evaluations, and answer all of your questions.

What is this talk about?

1. Outcome harvesting

This monitoring and evaluation methodology helps you qualitatively identify, describe, verify and analyze the changes generated through an intervention. Instead of starting with set indicators and targets, it begins with actual changes and investigates who or what contributed to them. It’s particularly useful in complex, unpredictable contexts, where outcomes may be hard to foresee, like advocacy, community organizing, or policy influence.

2. Impact Logging

Similar to outcome harvesting, impact logging provides a way to capture qualitative and hard to measure change. Impact logging is a more real-time way to record important impacts including positive and negative outcomes and feedback from diverse stakeholders. By logging impacts in a database as they occur we can build a picture of evidence, which can also feed back into outcome harvesting!

Every two months The Mission Motor organizes discussions and lectures on Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning topics for animal and vegan advocates. We talk about challenges, share knowledge, and develop a community around MEL-related topics specific to helping animals.

After the session, we will share the presentation and recording with the participants and in the #s-mel channel of Hive Slack. The Q&A section will not be recorded to create a safe space for sharing and asking questions.

Do you have a question before the meetup?
Join the #s-mel channel of Hive Slack and post your question please

Looking forward to seeing you!
