About Event

Join us for a powerful evening of truth-telling, connection, and calls to action.

Flotilla4Change invites you to witness real stories from the Niger Delta — one of the most environmentally devastated and yet resilient regions on Earth. You'll hear directly from:

🔹 Individuals living with the daily impacts of climate change

🔹 Campaigners fighting for justice and survival

🔹 Scientists uncovering the data behind the crisis

This is a rare opportunity to learn from those who know the stakes best. Together, we'll explore the intersection of climate, justice, and lived experience.

💬 Expect talks, Q&A, and raw, moving insights that:

Humanise environmental issues

Reveal why our collective demands matter

Challenge complacency and provoke action

Uphold the principle: “No story about people without those people.”

This is part of Flotilla4Change’s Stories of Solidarity Series - evenings of solidarity, science, and storytelling. It’s our way of platforming the voices that matter, helping us all to realign with why we’re doing what we do.

Come to listen. Come to learn. Come to be moved.

Together, we can help shape a future rooted in justice.

We will hear from

Nbani Barilule Friday is the director and founder of the Lekeh Development Foundation, a grassroots organization that advocates for environmental justice in Nigeria, particularly in oil-impacted communities like Ogoni Land and the Niger Delta Region. The foundation focuses on climate change and environmental action, promoting the phase-out of fossil fuels in these areas and supporting a just transition to renewable energy sources.

As the coordinator of the Nigeria Coal Network, Nbeni collaborates with community-based organizations (CBOs), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and community mobilizers to combat coal mining activities. He also organizes and convenes the Niger Delta Climate Change Conference, which aims to amplify the voices of those involved in the Niger Delta struggle and to highlight the challenges faced by the region.

Nbani Barilule Friday was nominated among the Top 20 change makers by the Luminary Awards, 2025.

Melody Gold Barry-Yobo is a facilitator of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and knowledge initiatives. She is a climate and environmental activist, trained by the Environmental Justice School class of 2024 in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, through a collaboration between GroundWork and the African Just Transition Network. Additionally, she is an educational advocate, spoken word artist, poet, and creative writer. Melody also serves as a global ambassador for the Institute of Economics and Peace (IEP) in Australia, a trained ecological defender and monitor by the Health Of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF).

Dr. Bryn R. Williams is a long-time facilitator of public philosophy discussions, with a track record spanning over 25 years. He co-founded Pub Philosophy in London in the late 1990s in collaboration with Philosophy Now magazine, inspired by the Café Philosophique movement. Since then, he has hosted hundreds of live philosophy sessions in informal settings, from pubs to literary salons. Now based in Geneva, Bryn continues this tradition through Café Philosophy at Maison Rousseau et Littérature and Pub Philosophy Switzerland at Flanagan’s Pub. His sessions invite participants from all walks of life to explore philosophical questions together — no lectures, no dogma, just honest inquiry and shared conversation. Each gathering begins with the group selecting a topic democratically, ensuring that every discussion is shaped by the interests and concerns of those present. Bryn holds a PhD in Philosophy and a CELTA qualification, and is committed to making philosophy accessible, participatory, and relevant to everyday life.
