Uncover the Secrets to Winning Campaigns – Backed by Science

Campaign Lab is launching an exciting new online series where top academics reveal proven strategies for campaign success. Forget the hype—each session delivers practical insights grounded in research that you can use to win.

Ever wondered why people sometimes dismiss even your strongest arguments? Persuasion is a tricky art—especially in politics—because people don't evaluate arguments purely on evidence alone. Instead, they filter information through their perceptions of who's delivering it. Think about it: you trust medical advice from your doctor more than from your accountant, right?

In political debates, these filters become even more complex. People constantly assess whether sources are biased or if there's a hidden agenda. Often, we unintentionally signal that we're "not like them," undermining our chances to be heard fairly, no matter how compelling our arguments are.

So, what can campaigners do to overcome these psychological barriers? Join us for a session with Lee De Witt, Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Cambridge to talk through his research on the psychology behind political beliefs, bias perceptions, and swing voter behaviors.
