Have a significant occasion coming up like a wedding, memorial service, or milestone celebration? How about a new home or other space receiving visitors? Spend your Saturday designing and assembling an elegant guestbook perfect for any special occasion.
First you'll get to choose your decorative papers and cloth for your notebook. Then learn the steps of sewing your pages as well as preparing your spine and your cover boards to assemble into your final custom handmade book to take home. Book measures 8x8 inches with about 120 pages, lined with “guests” printed along top margin.
No prior experience is necessary and all materials included. Appropriate for ages 14 and up. Sonia will prepare the materials ready for you to assemble and use her teaching experiences accumulated for over a decade to make accessible the materials, tools, and techniques you'll use to bring everything together into a beautiful guestbook.
Here’s a breakdown of the day:
10am-1pm
Overview of project and selection and preparation of materials. Preparing the textblock: punching and sewing signatures, tipping in endsheets, glueing up spine, adding headbands.
1pm-1:30pm: Break for lunch
While lunch is not included, we have a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave and kettle for your convenience, as well as nearby food options
1:30pm-4pm
Preparing the case elements: delaminating boards, covering boards, preparing the spine piece, and final assembly.
Things to Know
This full-day workshop costs $150.00 per person and includes all materials. When you register here, you’ll receive an email with payment instructions. Direct deposit, card payment, PayPal, or Zelle all accepted, as well as cash paid ahead of the workshop date at our location (open to the public Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays).
