Participatory Grantmaking: Who is in charge of the invested money?
“Nothing about us, without us.”
Participatory approaches are making inroads into the practice of grantmaking and impact investing. A growing number of funds and investors worldwide are exploring and adopting processes which allow their communities, beneficiaries and investees to be more actively and decisively involved in decision-making at all levels. This results in ways of working that differ significantly from more traditional procedures of investment and carry exotic names such as ‘shared gifting’ or ‘community-controlled capital’.
During this event, we will give you a taste of the dynamics of participatory grantmaking and participatory investing for impact-driven innovation. And we will focus on the challenges ahead, in particular: Who do you think should be in charge of the invested money?
