This acceleration session is part of the World Circular Economy Forum 2025. It will explore the unique challenges and opportunities faced by the Brazilian infrastructure sector in transitioning to a circular economy model, considering the significant knowledge gap that exists regarding this topic. We will focus on ports, airports, roads, and railways, examining how circular projects in these areas can leverage impact measurement and align with regulations to attract investments.
We will address key issues, including:
Knowledge gap: we will highlight the urgent need for circular economy education in the infrastructure sector.
Logistical complexity: we will discuss the unique challenges and business opportunities posed by Brazil's continental dimensions in implementing circular practices across different regions.
Infrastructure limitations: we will address the necessary infrastructure for collecting, sorting, and processing waste materials from different types of infrastructure equipment.
Regulatory framework: we will explore the need for alignment between existing local regulations and circular economy principles in the infrastructure sector, considering the federal law project 1874/2022.
