About Event

The race to commercial break-even fusion is heating up, with myriad fusion approaches being put to the test. This will disrupt many industries - including how we move people and things around.

This closed-door event will include a panel discussion with fusion industry leaders on the state of compact fusion, and the promise of fusion energy in space and aerospace. We will discuss the key challenges and opportunities for the aerospace industry, as well as the pathways to burning down risks and paving the way to adoption. We will be joined by several leading fusion startups, as well as stakeholders from the government, academia, industry, defense, and venture capital.

The event format will be:

  • 3:00 - 3:20pm - guests arrive, snacks and refreshments served.

  • 3:20 - 4:20pm - panel discussion moderated by Ryan Weed, Co-founder & CEO of AeroFuse, with panelists including:

    • Ahmed Diallo, Program Director at ARPA-E,

    • Robin Langrty, Co-founder & CEO at Avalanche Energy,

    • Ron Litchford, Principal Propulsion Technologist for NASA STMD,

    • Hugo Wagner, Head of Hydrogen Strategy & Ecosystem at Airbus Americas, and

    • Jeremy Scholz, Co-founder & CEO at Jupiter Volta

  • 4:20 - 5:00pm - post panel discussion, snacks and refreshments.

This event is a part of SF Deep Tech Week - a week of events hosted by VCs and startups to build community in the Deep Tech ecosystem.

The discussion will be hosted at The Institute, at Salesforce Tower. The Institute is a public benefit thinktank whose mission is to facilitate open dialogue and collaboration through initiatives that span disciplines and expertise. The Institute aims to challenge old ways of thinking, ask thought-provoking questions, and find new approaches to the world’s most pressing problems.
