In Session presents Sonic Study Hall: Black Club Music Ecology, featuring producer, songwriter, composer, creator of Never Normal Records, and UNC Chapel Hill professor Suzi Analogue.
This workshop explores the histories and pivotal roles of club promoters, DJs, attendees, and the social-political landscapes that shaped iconic genres like techno, house, and Baltimore club music.
This workshop, like all In Session programming, prioritizes the attendance and voices of Black women and gender expansive attendees.
We are offering tickets at a rate of $5 for Black women and gender expansive attendees, while remaining open to all POC gender-expansive community members at $10 per ticket.
Participants will take part in a one-hour interactive presentation, followed by a brief Q&A and discussion on the symbiotic relationship between club culture and its communities. Homework included!
