About Event

Ali Partovi is an Iranian-American entrepreneur and venture capitalist. He is best known for co-founding Code.org and starting Neo, a diverse mentorship community, startup accelerator, and VC firm. He has backed legendary companies like Airbnb, Dropbox, Facebook, and Uber. Ali grew up in Tehran during the Iran-Iraq war, attended Harvard, and sold his first startup, LinkExchange, in 1998.

In this talk "I Can Dodge Bullets?", Ali discusses imposter syndrome and risk taking. Everybody grapples with imposter syndrome at some point, including many successful founders and leaders in tech. Hear (and share) personal stories about imposter syndrome: how it prevents you from taking bold risks, and how you can overcome it to aim higher and achieve your dreams.

This event is a part of SWIB Tech Week, an annual week-long event series hosted by Stanford Women in Business featuring prominent tech leaders with the aim to promote equity and inclusion in the industry. Past SWIB speakers have included Julia Hartz (Co-founder and CEO, Eventbrite), Reid Hoffman (Partner, Greylock Partners and Co-founder, LinkedIn), and Jess Lee (Partner, Sequoia), among others.

This is an in-person event open to the entire Stanford community (especially underrepresented groups in CS, and yes, all genders). RSVP now as space is limited — food will be provided!
