About Event

Join us at Beacon Food Forest in Seattle for our monthly 3rd Saturday outdoor community garden work party! BFF is a 3.5 acre land restoration and urban farming project that broke ground in 2012 and operates as an Open Harvest Model, where anyone in the community can harvest food, medicine and crafting plants. We have over 1000 species of fruit and nut trees and shrubs, berries, herbs, flowers and vines that our community benefits from.

Work parties at BFF are led by core volunteers who assist in stewarding the land on-site. The tasks for each work party at the Beacon Food Forest include composting, weeding, digging, and mulching, as well as lower impact activities like planting, harvesting, watering and sowing seeds. We start at 10am with orientation and break for a potluck lunch at 1pm, ending the event at 2pm.

Volunteers are welcome to bring food and drinks to share for the potluck! Please label with ingredients to help with dietary needs. We will provide plates, bowls and cutlery for everyone.

Beacon Food Forest is located at 15th Ave S & Dakota St. There is a bus stop at the SW corner of the Forest, and other bus stops at Jefferson Park adjacent to us. We are also a 12-15 minute walk from the Beacon Hill Light Rail Station.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a water bottle. We provide tools and gloves. The bathroom access is a 5 minute walk up to the restroom at Jefferson Park adjacent to the food forest.

By registering for this event, you agree to share your registration information with the organizers of PNW Climate Week, receive communications about PNW Climate Week, and acknowledge that photos/videos may be taken for promotional use.
