Hildegard Reanimated: Vision in Vision
Welcome to Hildegard Reanimated: Vision in Vision - a formal programmed salon presented by Salon Avec Moi featuring the early music group The Pandora Consort and their special program exploring the mystical visions of Hildegard von Bingen through her illuminations and music while we celebrate the color of the world and envision your life and creative mind through the theme, Reflections of the Living Light.
At this salon you can bring an item, a dream, or a wish to present to the manifestation altar to set your intentions for 2025 all while enjoying the food and drink spread included in your ticket.
Please note this salon is 21+ age guests only.
January is a month of dreary and this salon is not one to follow. Reflections of the Living Light celebrates vibrant colors, jewels, gems, tinsel hair, and your Lirika Matoshi dress you barely get to take out. Celebrate the "Living Light" with outfit inspiration here.
Hildegard and The Pandora Consort
Hildegard is an impressive figure in many regards; she was a theologian, philosopher, botanist, doctor, magistra (mother superior), and one of the first named composers of music. Hildegard experienced visions (“umbra viventis lucis” or “the reflection of the living light”) from the age of three up to her death, and many of her writings and illuminations are a result of these visions. Hildegard’s writings, visions, and music are inextricably linked in her life and philosophy. Taking inspiration from her life, The Pandora Consort weave them together in a concert program focused on four of her most famous visions that influenced her spiritual philosophy. Working with visual artist Cate Duckwall to bring these visions to life, this concert features music from Hildegard’s vast oeuvre accompanied by artistic animations of key illuminations, creating a multimedia experience.
Let’s talk about the ticket cost
The price of this ticket helps pay our artists! Thank you for helping Salon Avec Moi provide a space for them and us all to do what we are supposed to do with the arts—to play and have fun.
A note from Salon Avec Moi founder
Hi, my name's Karlye Whitt. I'm an ex-opera singer currently in Brooklyn, NY, an employee of the non-profit performing arts, mother to a fluffy cloud of a cat named Cappi, and a MA candidate at NYU for Performing Arts Administration. During my time on both sides of the table in the opera industry I witnessed the disconnect of community and the classical arts, and to lightly put it, the individuals that world caters and bends itself to. Meanwhile my friends and I indulged in our vices and sang to our own salons at weddings, graduation celebrations, and get togethers. A safe place to run a piece for the first time, a place to sing a role you would never actually perform, to be nostalgic, to be together in the moment. I hope you walk away from the salon feeling like you belong because that's how our salons have always felt to me.
