About Event

Cities have always been humanity’s greatest engines of opportunity, invention, and community. Cities are home to more than half of humanity today, and generate 70% of global emissions. As we adapt to and mitigate the consequences of climate change, cities are at the forefront.

Approximately 75% of the urban infrastructure of 2050 is yet to be built, representing a $5 trillion market opportunity. How we design our built environment - our buildings, transportation networks, water systems, waste management processes, public spaces, and more - will have a profound influence on the livability of our communities. We must effectively connect the dots between the climate tech, policy, and finance communities to get this green transition right.

The combination of creative capital stacks coupled with urban deployment sites to help startups de-risk new climate technologies and accelerate the path to commercialization is critical. This session will bring together climate tech investors from Streetlife Ventures and Burnt Island Ventures, representatives of New York City’s urban test bed sites from the Brooklyn Navy Yard and the Economic Development Corporation, and private sector partners including Jamestown Properties and Xylem to discuss how creative urban climate solutions are being implemented in our streets and neighborhoods. Topics for discussion will include:

  • How we think about the capital stack at the earliest stages, and how we set up founders for project finance as they grow

  • The experience of startups deploying their technologies in real-world urban environments and what they're learning along the way

  • How New York City aims to be a test bed for climate tech innovation, through its built environment assets, through its capital, and the development of the ecosystem

A pecha-kucha style startup showcase of urban climate solutions will follow. Featured startups will include:

Please also join us for great people, great food, great conversation after the presentations on the beautiful Rooftop Park overlooking the Hudson River at Pier 57!
