​👥 Speakers

​Ayaka is a bilingual freelancer who started her career from an unexpected place – an unexpected experience from last year. With no prior freelancing experience, she built her business by opting for community support over the typical solo approach that most freelancers take. She'll share how embracing vulnerability and asking for help transformed not just her career, but her entire perspective on what's possible. If you've ever felt lost in your career transition, Ayaka's story will show you that uncertainty isn't your enemy – it's your invitation to grow.

​Masa Tanahashi is a community manager at Sollective, a platform for highly skilled freelancers in Japan. Raised in the U.S. in a first-generation Japanese family, he brings a cross-cultural perspective to his work. His approach to community building is shaped by a diverse background-from his work as a freelance director of photography to his experience in education and youth recreational services in the U.S.-giving him a strong foundation in storytelling, empathy, and creating inclusive spaces.

​Ken never followed the typical 9-5 path—he began his career as a personal trainer in a gym before launching his own business to gain more freedom and earn a better income. He now runs that business online as a side project while studying Japanese in Japan and job hunting. For Ken, freelancing is about more than money—it’s a way to learn about yourself and grow through firsthand experience.

​Yui is an in-house UI/UX designer at a Japan-based SaaS company. Before stepping into digital design, she worked for nine years as a fashion designer, where she built collections that thoughtfully balanced user needs, trends, and brand identity. After taking a sabbatical in 2024 to dive into digital design, she started freelancing for yoga instructors and small businesses, creating everything from websites to brand identities. Her background in physical product design gives her a distinctive approach to crafting digital experiences that truly connect with users.

​👥 登壇者について

​Ayakaさんは、昨年の予期せぬ経験をきっかけにキャリアをスタートさせたバイリンガルのフリーランサーです。フリーランスとしての経験が全くない状態から、多くのフリーランサーが選ぶ「ひとりで頑張る」スタイルではなく、コミュニティのサポートを選ぶことでビジネスを築いてきました。彼女は「弱さを受け入れ、助けを求めること」が、キャリアだけでなく、自分の可能性に対する考え方そのものをどう変えてくれたのかを共有してくれます。もしあなたがキャリアの転換期で迷いを感じているなら、Ayakaさんのストーリーは、「不確実性」は敵ではなく、「成長への招待」であることを教えてくれるでしょう。

​Masa Tanahashiさんは、ハイスキルフリーランスが集結するプラットフォーム「Sollective（ソレクティブ）」のコミュニティマネージャーです。日系一世の家庭に生まれ、アメリカで育った彼は、仕事にクロスカルチャーな視点を持ち込んでいます。フリーランスのクリエーティブディレクターとしての活動や、アメリカでの教育・青少年向けレクリエーションの経験など、多様なバックグラウンドを通じて、ストーリーテリング、共感力、インクルーシブな場づくりといったコミュニティ構築の土台を築いてきました。

​Kenさんは、一般的な「9時から5時」の働き方には縛られず、ジムのパーソナルトレーナーとしてキャリアをスタートしました。その後、より自由でより高い収入を得るために、自らビジネスを立ち上げました。現在はそのビジネスをオンラインで副業として続けながら、日本で日本語を学び、就職活動を行っています。Kenさんにとってフリーランスという選択は、お金以上の意味を持っており、「自分自身を知り、実体験を通して成長する」ための方法なのです。

​Yuiさんは、日本のSaaSのプロダクトにてUI/UXデザイナーとして参画しています。UI/UXの世界に入る前は、9年間ファッションデザイナーとして活動し、ユーザーのニーズ、トレンド、ブランドアイデンティティのバランスを丁寧に考慮したコレクションを制作してきました。
2024年には1年間の休業を選択し、UI/UXデザインを学びながら、ヨガインストラクターや友人たちのためにプロモーショングラフィック、Webサイト、ロゴなどのデザインを手がけるフリーランス活動を開始しました。
フィジカルなプロダクトデザインの経験を通して培った視覚的なデザインの感覚、ストーリーテリング、人間中心設計の思考は、現在のデジタル体験のデザインにも生かされています。
