Workshop Highlights

  • The History of Zines: Discover the vital role of zines in social movements, particularly feminism and queer liberation, and how self-publishing empowers free expression.

  • Creative Guidance: Learn through examples of zine works and receive step-by-step instructions on collage-making and zine creation.

  • Exploring Emotions and Diasporic Memories: Use the zine format to capture and express emotions and memories tied to cultural identity, recollections of home, and personal stories.

Why Zines?

Books often require professional publishing, following set standards—mass production, meticulous crafting, and refinement.Zines, on the other hand, are entirely different. They put the power of expression in everyone’s hands. With just a piece of paper and a pen, anyone can create a zine. There’s no need for complicated processes or approval from publishing elites. We encourage anyone passionate about self-expression to start creating zines!
