Tattoo Time
Mark the occasion with free temporary tattoos by @susiecarterart. The tattoo artist will be there during the entire event doodling free temporary tattoos from a custom flash sheet. If you’re feeling bold, you can make the ink permanent for $100. All tattoos will be first come, first served, and selected from a custom flash sheet that will be shared before the event. Permanent tattoos (you know, the real kind) will only be available for arm placements. Venmo and cash accepted at the time of your tattoo.

For this salon we're showcasing A Fashionable Epiphany. Think New York street style, bigger and bolder is better, experimentation, eccentricity, colorful, and as always, bring your opera gloves. Click HERE for inspiration.
If you want to perform!
Below you will find a sign-up sheet for classical artists and two slots designated for musical theatre singers to perform with the accompanist during the evening. The sign-up is first come first serve—once the slots are gone they’re gone! Please note that if you are performing you do not have to pay for a ticket for the evening; however, if you bring a guest they are required to purchase one.

The lowdown on sliding scale: Let's address it...classical music can have a big money barrier which limits people to access and the thrill of it all. The minimum price is set to break even on the event. Anything higher is to help pay the pre-scheduled artists and accompanists even better in the future and ensure another spectacular Salon. If you've got the means, consider it!
A note from Salon Avec Moi founder
Hi, my name's Karlye Whitt. I'm an ex-opera singer currently in Brooklyn, NY, an employee of the non-profit performing arts, mother to a fluffy cloud of a cat named Cappi, and a MFA candidate at NYU for Performing Arts Administration. During my time on both sides of the table in the opera industry I witnessed the disconnect of community and the classical arts, and to lightly put it, the individuals that world caters and bends itself to. Meanwhile my friends and I indulged in our vices and sang to our own salons at weddings, graduation celebrations, and get togethers. A safe place to run a piece for the first time, a place to sing a role you would never actually perform, to be nostalgic, to be together in the moment. I hope you walk away from the salon feeling like you belong because that's how our salons have always felt to me.
