Love at First Knit
This workshop was previously known as Knit & Purl and now we are trying a new spin on beginner knitting with Knitting Party!
This workshop offers an exciting entrance into the expansive art of knitting. Knitting isn’t complicated but it requires practice to get the hang of. You’ll learn the basic knit stitch and then we’ll jump right into the practice portion of the workshop with a game of knitting musical chairs. Stations will be set up all around Drawing Room with pre-established knitting projects giving you a chance to practice on a variety of needle sizes and yarns when moving from station to station with this “knitting musical chairs” experience. Enjoy an even smaller group learning experience at each station and get out those first messy practice stitches before even starting your project. Use jumbo yarn and needles to clearly see what you’re doing or use smaller needles and see what a difference it makes in the fabric quality! Stitch by stitch you’ll start feeling more comfortable knitting with hands-on instruction along the way.
After some practice, you’ll pick out your own yarn and needles. From there, we’ll guide you through the process of casting on and beginning your first pot holder project to take home and finish.
Knitting is a process that gets easier, faster, and more rewarding with every stitch of practice. Arrive at our workshop ready to learn amongst a community of other beginners and let’s give you the tools to start a new skill that has endless possibilities!
IMPORTANT NOTES: All tickets are final sale. We are a shoes-off, socks-required space; please bring your own socks or we have some for purchase for $1. Our events are geared towards connection through creativity; for many, you will be sitting around shared tables. Unfortunately, during ticketed events, we are unable to accommodate any children/babies under 5 years of age. Dogs are also not permitted at events. Upon entering our space you are consenting to photography/videography that may be used for promotional purposes.
