About Event

Hello,

We welcome you to join us for a recurring exercise in active self-reflection: gathering the community together to slow down, pause, and reflect in a moment of introspection.

------------------------------

This weekly exercise was inspired by a piece of advice I've carried with me for several years now, shared by a mentor during a challenging period in my life.

"To help navigate the world around you, allocate 30 minutes or so a week to think and reflect."

We are all surrounded by a massive storm swirling in our heads: of ideas, conversations, tasks, emotions. I know a number of us are feeling periods of stress, overwhelm, and potentially reaching points of burnout (🙋🏻‍♀️).

While it is not some wonder drug that cures all — journaling can help. It can be used a problem solving tool, or as a direct exercise in self-awareness.

Journaling is a method of self-reflection. Similar to the diary you kept hidden between your mattress as a teenager, it is a safe sanctuary to help you process your thoughts and feelings.

Andrew and I first connected because of our mutual interest in journaling.

Every week, my partner and I set aside time to reflect on the week -- what went well, what could be better, and how to improve for next week. I've shared a few articles on what journaling has done for me and the ways I journal.

Andrew values journaling so much he is building a journaling tool, Thunk, that he is making available for beta testing within the Ness Labs community.

This exercise of self-reflection is an invitation we'd like to extend to everyone.

We'll be hosting this event every Friday for the next four weeks, with a general format below:

  • 5 minute intro and review

  • 30 minutes of active reflection (guided or unguided)

  • 25 minutes to discuss reflections

We hope this event series will help you navigate stress, mental health, and help you better understand yourself.
