Beyond the Basics: How CI/CD Powers Your Resilience & Efficiency for Smarter Ops Decisions
Omer Biran, Engineering Manager, Island
With CI/CD pipelines celebrating nearly 15 years since their inception, now is a good time to take a look at what modern CI/CD looks like, and what it can help engineering teams achieve for today's complex systems. Successful CI/CD is about more than pushing code faster. It’s about creating smarter pipelines that work harder so your team doesn’t have to.
In this talk we'll dive into advanced CI/CD implementations at Island scale, and address real-world DevOps challenges, focusing on practical strategies and measurable benefits. This includes cross-platform execution—because “write once, run anywhere” shouldn't just be a pipe dream; with modern tooling, automation and practices it's a game changer. Likewise backwards compatibility, which is critical to ensuring testing is cross-browser & product version compatible, even when the tech stack shifts under your feet. Being event-driven isn't just for infrastructure, we can also achieve auto-scaling of machines (in our case Azure) that wake up or go to sleep based on Jenkins job loads, thanks to cron jobs that keep an eye on demand for greater efficiencies.
To tackle flaky tests, we’ll cover strategies for automatically identifying unreliable tests, moving them from CI to CD stages, and improving pipeline stability through metrics-based decisions, built on powerful monitoring for better and smarter decision-making––sharing insights on to leverage GitHub status checks for automated CI alerts, monitoring performance, and determining the impact of monorepo changes to optimize pipeline execution by skipping irrelevant workflows.
This isn't just another CI/CD talk, you'll come away from this session with actionable takeaways for DevOps teams seeking to improve pipeline performance, reduce operational overhead, and deliver higher-quality software––by orders of magnitude faster.

Zero to Automated: A Practical Framework for Container Vulnerability Management
Special guest from the US 🤩 John Amaral CTO and Co-Founder of Root.io
Container vulnerability management is a high-stakes challenge, often tied to service-level objectives (SLOs) like ensuring no critical or high vulnerabilities in running images. Teams—whether managing golden images or broader security efforts—struggle with high costs, fragmented workflows, and the complexity of holistic remediation. This session presents a practical maturity model as both a rubric for guiding your journey and a roadmap for implementing scalable, automated vulnerability management processes.
You’ll learn to:
Map your current capabilities and posture across 5 maturity levels.
Define metrics to track progress in vulnerability remediation and automation.
Implement scalable, automated controls to reduce critical and high vulnerabilities.
Build developer-friendly workflows for remediation that support production readiness.

It's Thursday! CI/CD as an unfinished journey
Alon Nisser, Principal Software Engineer, Zencity
It’s Thursday afternoon, and you’ve got plans for this evening. You’ve just finished the feature. You push to main, and click deploy. OR DO YOU? Let’s talk about Thursday deployments and what they can teach us.
The Hidden Costs of Poor Observability
Evan Myara, Sales Engineer, Datadog
In this short and fun talk, Evan will dive into how observability failures create hidden costs across operational costs, businesses costs & reputation.
Event Speakers and Bios:
Omer Biran, Engineering Manager, Island
John Amaral, CTO & Co-Founder, Root.io
John Amaral, the CTO & Co-Founder at Root.io, has more than 25 years of experience as a technologist and product development leader in SaaS, information security and networking.
