Polar Bear Swim 2025
Kick off the New Year with an exhilarating plunge into the icy waters of English Bay! Join VanCity Connect at the 105th annual Vancouver Polar Bear Swim, an iconic tradition organized by the City of Vancouver. This event has been bringing the community together since 1920 and is one of the largest and oldest Polar Bear Swims in the world.
We will gather at English Bay Beach at 12:00 PM, near the English Bay Bathhouse, to socialize and prepare for the big swim. Leading up to the official plunge at 2:30 PM, enjoy live entertainment, music, and a lively atmosphere. Food trucks will be on-site offering snacks to fuel your adventure, and this is a great chance to connect with fellow participants.
The highlight of the day is the plunge itself, where thousands will dive into the chilly waters to celebrate courage, community, and fun. After the swim, be sure to collect your commemorative Polar Bear Swim button as a keepsake.
Important Details:
Registration: Participation is completely free, but registration on Eventbrite is mandatory to attend. Once registered, check your email for confirmation and additional event details.
What to Bring: Swimwear, towels, warm clothing, water shoes or sandals, and a light bag. Lockers are available, but space is limited.
Safety Tips: Limit water time to under 15 minutes to prevent hypothermia. Alcohol is prohibited as it increases risks in cold water.
This event is organized by the City of Vancouver and not by VanCity Connect. We’re simply coming together as a group to join the fun and build connections while enjoying this incredible Vancouver tradition.
