1st CryoCoffee
CryoCoffee—a casual, one-hour meetup for anyone at ISTA interested in cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), cryo-electron tomography (cryo-ET), or related topics. Whether you work directly with these techniques, develop computational methods, tackle inverse problems, or are simply curious, this is an opportunity to connect with others, exchange ideas, and find potential collaborations.
To be clear, this meetup is NOT aimed at biologists only! We will be happy to also see mathematicians, computer scientists, physicists, chemists, and basically anyone interested in cryo.
Why join?
Meet fellow researchers working in and around cryo-EM/ET.
Discuss recent results, open questions, or technical challenges.
Have the chance to address the community in a Mini Spotlight.
Get inspired by cross-disciplinary perspectives.
Help shape a communication channel for our local cryo-EM/ET community.
📅 Date & Time: 18th March 2025, 3PM
📍 Location: ErrorBar
Everybody is welcome—whether you have something to present, a question to ask, or just want to listen in. Let’s establish a space where our community can meet face-to-face regularly.
If you're interested, please register so we know how many people to expect. Feel free to spread the word to anyone at ISTA & XISTA who might benefit.
Program:
Introduction (~5-10 min)
Brief welcome and purpose of CryoCoffee.
Mini Spotlights (~10 min total)
2-5 people (who volunteer beforehand) briefly share their work or a question they’re stuck on (max 1 slide, max 2 min each). Please get in touch with the organizer if you want to have a Mini Spotlight.
Small Group Discussions (~30 min)
Groups will be created based on the sticky notes.
Wrapping-up with poll on the comm channel
You will be asked what is your preferred means of communication with this community: Discord, Slack, RocketChat, Zulip, Signal, Whatsapp, mailing list?
Looking forward to seeing you there!
