Creating Indigenous Content with Patricia Crowe
*This is a community-submitted session and the first of its kind. Warm and constructive feedback is welcome!*
When was the last time your organization shared Indigenous content?
Was it on National Truth and Reconciliation Day? National Indigenous People's Day? Never? If you've been wanting to do better on this front, you first have to know better.
In this session, Indigenous advisor and communications expert Patricia Crowe will help you understand why and how to create Indigenous content in a helpful, respectful, non-performative way.
You'll learn about:
- The correct terminology to use: First Nation, Métis, Inuit, Indigenous
- How to create Land Acknowledgements for websites, reports, and presentations
- What is sacred in terms of the words and images you use in your content for Indigenous and corresponding pictures (for example: what does a dreamcatcher represent and can I use it on my site?)
And so much more. Patricia will also save time for Q&A after her presentation, ensuring there is space for any unanswered curiosities around the subject. You'll leave this session feeling empowered to spark conversations, continue learning, and include Indigenous content in your 2025 plans.
