Calling all animal lovers who are passionate about advancements in interspecies communication!

We're hosting an event to discuss the latest technological advancements in interspecies communication. Join us for an evening to discuss how we can use technology and research to bridge a path for communication between humans and pets.

Here are a few topics we will cover:

  • Science behind expanding language vocabulary for dogs

  • Advancement in the state of the art multi-modal models to better understand animal communication

  • Potential for AI to change the way we interact with our pets

  • Towards canine BCIs - a review and future directions in deciphering the canine mind

This is an interactive event where we will have speakers from some of the leading animal communication organizations advancing scientific research in interspecies communication:

  1. Leo Trottier from FluentPet

  2. Praful Mathur from Sarama

  3. Akash Kulgod from dognosis.tech

About the Speakers

Leo Trottier, CEO of FluentPet, is a unique blend of cognitive scientist, product designer, and entrepreneur. Early in his career he founded CleverPet, creating an internet-connected game console that automatically trained thousands of pets. In 2020, Leo launched FluentPet, which enables people to teach their dogs and cats to "talk" with recordable sound buttons through a configurable HexTile system. He also launched the How.TheyCanTalk Research Initiative, the world's largest study of button-based communication in dogs.

Akash Kulgod, Chief Canine Comrade of Dognosis, grew up in an extended family of 11 doctors and a rotating cast of dogs in a tier-2 city in India. After studying Cognitive Science at UC Berkeley, he has been devoted full-time to dognosis.tech, an emergent research endeavour from his award winning honors thesis on an novel model of canine cognition. He is currently focused on developing non-invasive brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) for dogs and unlocking the ability of canines to detect diseases at scale. He has been a researcher at organisations in the US, Japan, Israel, Hungary, and the UK, has presented his work at the Canine Science Forum, and is a 2x Emergent Ventures India winner.

Praful Mathur, CEO of Sarama, developing multi-modal models delivered as an iPhone app to understand dogs through their barks & body language. Prior to Sarama, Praful developed multiple companies that were funded by YCombinator, TechStars, Initialized Capital, Justin Kan, and Jake Chapman.
