About Event

As of noon today we have reached capacity. We may have cancellations and no-shows, so you may try stand-by openings at the door tonight.

Freedman, Shahram Shariati, Dylan Hirsch-Shell and a rep from the Ellen Lee Zhou team will attend.

Hear their plans and opinions for addressing climate change, sf bay pollution, ocean health, water issues and support for an SF blue tech hub.

Quick glance bios:

Keith Freedman is a 28-year San Franciscan who has operated a small business in the city for the past eight years. He is also a member of the San Francisco Tourism Improvement District Board, South of Market Business Association and AFT Local 2121.

With a master’s degree in computer science from Colorado State University, Keith has worked as a software engineer at Los Alamos National Laboratory and as an educator at City College of San Francisco and the University of California, Berkeley.

Shahram Shariati has worked for the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency for 10 years and San Francisco Mayor's Office of Housing for 8 years. His work consists of designing infrastructure for sustainable modes of transportation and helping first time homebuyers navigate the below market rate program.

He attended California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and earned three degrees over the course of six years. He possesses a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degree in civil engineering, focusing on urban planning, environmental studies and transportation. The third is a Master of Business Administration degree.

From an early age, Dylan Hirsch-Shell has been concerned about the environment, and firmly committed to sustainability. As a youth, after watching Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth, he realized global warming was the biggest challenge facing humanity (at that time). For the past 12 years he has worked at Tesla, adding significantly to development of electric vehicle technologies.

Dylan double-majored in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science and Brain & Cognitive Sciences, while also pursuing research in the Artificial Intelligence Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He also earned a PhD in neuroscience from UCLA.

Ellen Lee Zhou* was born and raised in a Taishan village in Canton, China. She legally immigrated to San Francisco with her family in 1986. Holding both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Social Work from San Francisco State University, she served as a Behavioral Health Clinician for San Francisco Public Health from 2006 to 2022. Passionate about community service, she volunteers as a Family Social Worker and has been part of the An Appeal to Heaven team, which provides care to the homeless, sick and lost on the streets.

Among her plans: offshore development platforms that can support San Francisco's trade and economic activities, plus fostering emerging industries in marine technology and green energy. *A representative from Zhou's team will attend on her behalf.

SF Blue Tech invited all candidates. Some sent regrets that, due to scheduling conflicts, they would be unable to attend.
