About Event

We are very excited to share with you our second live Science Spotlight of the Carbon Arc! Come and join a brilliant conversation with Dr. Katie Gilmour, who will be speaking about "Engineering carbonic anhydrase as a route to biocement and CO2 capture"

This event is for seasoned scientists and research rookies alike, whatever your background, come and join us to hear how about the coming together of synbio and climate technology!

Bio: Dr. Katie Gilmour is a microbiologist, currently working as a senior researcher at Northumbria University within Living Construction. She has years of experience working with engineered living materials, in particular, microbially induced calcite precipitation, and has published work on functionalising bacterial cellulose using an engineered biology approach, as well as publications on clay microbe interactions. By working closely with architects and designers she has been able to push her work closer to applied settings with a focus on sustainable building materials.
