Did you know hiring managers and potential clients spend less than 30 seconds reviewing portfolios? When you submit work that has to speak for itself, how do you know you are hooking people? Are they noticing what you want to communicate about your skills and your work?
Come try a different kind of portfolio review that gives you fast feedback using a user-testing technique called Think Aloud.
In fast-paced, partnered rounds, you will:
Introduce yourself
Turn around your laptop and show your portfolio without explaining it
Ask your partner to describe your portfolio back to you, saying out loud what they see, think, and wonder about as they scan
Dig deeper in discussion and hear ideas for improvement
What’s the advantage of Think Aloud over typical portfolio critiques?
No need to take time to verbally explain your work; it speaks for itself
Target problem spots you weren’t aware of
The experience often feels more enlightening and less “critical.”

We'll start with the portfolio review from 5:30-6:30pm, then venture out to the usual bar we all know and love to enjoy refreshments and continue the conversation.
All designers, researchers, product people, entrepreneurs, engineers, and tech friends are welcome to register. You don't have to be a member of ADPList to come see what we're all about.
