About Event

Join People Who Thrive, a monthly gathering for ambitious New Yorkers to tap into community and support as they go after their goals. (Can't make tonight's event? Join us in February on 2/19; register here).

At each meeting, a speaker talks for 10 minutes about a time in their life or their career when they asked for help, and receiving that help had a transformative impact. Then, everyone has one minute to address the group and share their elevator pitch, their “ask” (something they need help with), and an “offer” (a way they can be of service to others). When the floor is open for networking, it’s easy to walk right up to someone you can help or someone who can help you and strike up a conversation.

Hyper-independence is overrated; interdependence is how we make things happen.

January's speaker is Holly Listmann. Holly is a research and innovation leader with a knack for answering complex questions. She is passionate about how new tech can improve daily life, drive value, and advance our health and wellness.

Holly brings a multi-disciplinary perspective from her background in design, psychology, and economics, and has led research for Google, Weight Watchers, and Deloitte. At WeightWatchers she worked across many initiatives, including community -- building on the company's origin story in the founders living room.

Come ready with your elevator pitch, your "ask," and an "offer" with the group, and quickly connect with people you can help and people who want to help you. Enjoy a self-serve cocktail and mocktail bar while meeting other go-getters who know they can't do it alone.

After the event, you can join the private People Who Thrive slack channel, where everyone can re-state their elevator pitch, ask, and offer after the event, making it easy to follow-up on new relationships and opportunities.

If the event ticket cost prevents you from being able to register, email event organizer Liz Winston at lizwinston2@gmail.com; three tickets are reserved for anyone who does not have the ability to pay at this time.

People who thrive ask for things.

People who thrive support others whenever they can.

People who thrive have support networks.

People who thrive belong to communities.

About event organizer Liz Winston: Liz Winston is a Brooklyn-based personal chef by day and an organizer in the disability justice movement by night. She believes strongly that having a community is the difference between whether people thrive (or struggle in isolation), so she's launching People Who Thrive as a monthly event series to create a community for New Yorkers building lives of their own design.
