About Event

The same day that New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the first statewide stay-at-home order, Polina Marinova voluntarily left a steady paycheck and a prestigious job as an editor at Fortune to pursue building a media company of her own.

While the uncertainty may have scared most people, Polina realized that her newsletter The Profile, which she started as a side project while still at Fortune, had the potential to become its own standalone media business.

Since leaving Fortune, she has proven that she was right. The Profile has become one of the most popular publications on Substack with an enthusiastic reader base spanning across the business and media landscape.

On this private call, Polina will share everything she’s learned turning what was once a side project into a full-time, one-person media business. We’ll discuss what ultimately convinced her to go all-in, how she’s built momentum and a loyal following, and how she consistently produces high-quality work. In the second half of the call, we’ll do a Q&A where everybody is invited to unmute and ask any questions they’d like.
