About Event

Building on the Point Zero Forum’s central theme of “Balancing on the Edge: Harnessing Technological Promise in the Shadow of Global Risks”, this innovation tour explores the role of blockchain technology across three critical topics for the financial sector: cybersecurity, tokenization, and ESG.

Agenda for the Point Zero Forum Innovation Tour:

  • 9.00 - 9.30 AM - Arrival & Welcome Coffee

  • 9:30 - 9:40 AM - Welcome & Introduction to the DFINITY Foundation

  • 9:40 - 10:15 AM Panel: Sovereignty & Security in the Digital Age

    • Ian Simpson (Moderator), Director of Marketing & Communications, RULEMATCH

    • Robert Rogenmoser, CEO, Securosys

    • Jan Camenisch, CTO, DFINITY Foundation

    • Thomas Brunner, Head Custody & Staking, Sygnum Bank

  • Banks and financial services providers face significant challenges with cyber threats as the cost and frequency of data breaches continue to rise. As such, cybersecurity has come to play an increasingly important role in managing and safeguarding a variety of digital “assets,” from sensitive/business critical data to actual financial assets. This panel discussion dives into potential value of and key considerations for blockchain powered infrastructure from a cybersecurity perspective.

  • 10:15 - 10:30 AM - Keynote: Universal Trusted Credentials: Transforming Access to Finance for MSMEs and Beyond

    • Francesca Puricelli, Sustainable Finance Specialist, UNDP Global Centre, Singapore

  • Access to affordable finance poses a persistent challenge for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) worldwide, inhibiting their potential growth and the economic development of countries that are reliant on these businesses. While the rise of the digital economy has opened up new pathways for financing, it has also reinforced the need for a global solution to bridge financing gaps.

  • 10:30 - 10:50 AM - Fireside Chat: Blockchain & ESG: The VRC Initiative and Beyond

    • Khaled Al Huraimel, CEO, BEEAH Group

    • Tracy Trachsler, Head of Institutional Relations, DFINITY Foundation

  • Annually, individuals produce approximately 2 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste. When industrial, electronic, agricultural, and other economic activities are accounted for, this figure surges to an alarming 17-18 billion tonnes. With only half of this waste being managed, the remaining portion is contributing to significant environmental damage through landfilling, dumping, and burning, impacting soils, water resources, and air quality. To counteract this situation, the VRC Initiative establishes a set of standardized rules and processes to enable institutions to compensate their solid waste footprint through a transparent ecosystem.

  • 10:50 - 11:25 AM - Panel: Tokenization of Digital Assets

    • Assia Gardiner (Moderator) Associate Director, Risk & Regulatory Compliance in Financial Institutions, BCG

    • Jürgen Hofbauer, Global Head of Strategic Partnerships, Taurus

    • Björn Assmann, Research Scientist, DFINITY Foundation

    • Tanvi Singh, Board member, Advisor & Founder, Trustiv

    • Matthias Müller, CCO, Member of the Executive Board, BX Digital

  • Tokenisation has long persevered as a highly promising application of blockchain technology that often struggled to gain sufficient traction. However, with some of the world’s key institutional players now actively exploring innovative use cases for traditional asset classes, tokenisation could finally be at a critical inflection point, ushering in improved capital efficiency, operational cost savings and enhanced compliance/transparency. This panel sheds light on this changing tokenisation landscape.

  • 11:25 - 11:30 AM - Closing Remarks

  • 11:30 - 12:00 PM - Networking (Drinks & Canapé)
