Spell-Casting (for Goodness' Sake): Poetry Workshop with Caitlyn Howe
Our words - spoken, written, or even chanted by the mind - S~P~E~L~L out the life we are creating through our participation in its design.
Our words are magical spells. They are powerful proof of our creative power. The more we recognize and use them as such, the more we can begin to rewrite the stories that flow as the fabric of our co-created world.
And, POETRY is a PRAYER-SPELL.
Why 'prayer', you might ask?
Every poem is a gift of inspired creation; intentionally crafted to honor life, by making art of what has been, what is, and what we dream will be.
In this workshop, we will unlock the magic of our words, and poetry as prayer, to craft A GOOD SPELL as our unique offering into creation at this potent time.
Why April 30th? On the next day, May 1st, we will welcome the amplifying energy of the Celtic holy-day, Beltane, to support us on our way to the full, radiant expression of our potential this year. Beltane marks the dawn of Summer, as the midway point between the spring equinox and summer solstice. This is a special time to feed the seeds we have planted in Spring so they flower fully and proliferate in this great cycle of life.
We will create this poem on the eve of Beltane in order to have it ready to speak as our prayer on the following day—
*ALL WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS WILL AlSO RECEIVE A GUIDED RITUAL TEMPLATE FOR BELTANE* to create your own sacred ceremony on May 1st!**
There is no nourishment more available, and perhaps more powerful, that the nourishment of our intentional words, crafted artfully in love, hope & truth.
Let's write a good-spell together, improve our relationship with words in all forms, and connect in community as poets and lovers of life itself.
Class Flow: The poetry class portion will run about 45 minutes, followed by timed writing together for 30 minutes, optional poetry-sharing to read your piece to the group (30 min est.), and closing guidance from Caitlyn for working your poem as a prayer in connection with the season.
For those who cannot attend the call live, you will receive the workshop recording along with your Beltane Ritual Template!
(A note on pricing: This workshop ticket is set at $22 with a sliding scale for accessibility. The minimum ticket donation is $11, and if you would like to offer more, that is always appreciated to support the development of future PoetQueen event and workshop productions to continue to be accessible for all!)
