Pier 70 Ventures: Lunch and Learn
As part of our commitment to supporting a robust and diverse startup ecosystem in the Pacific Northwest, we occasionally host informative lunch-and-learn sessions featuring successful venture capital funds, particularly those with an early-stage focus in tech.
We’d like to invite you to an exclusive luncheon event to learn about one such firm, Pier 70 Ventures. The Washington Fund is the Pier 70’s second fund. This $40 million fund will invest exclusively in diverse entrepreneurs who are leading breakthrough technology companies. Pier 70 seeks to unlock the potential of underserved entrepreneurs, plus advance equity and wealth creation for start-up founders, while delivering market rate financial returns for their investors.
In terms of industry sector focus, the Washington Fund will be concentrating primarily on aerospace/ag-food, life sciences, information and communications tech, and defense tech. These are the sectors where the fund’s four managing partners have the most extensive operational and investment experience.
This new fund is seeded with a $20M investment from the State of Washington. The fund managers are required to raise $20M in matching investments from a mix of institutional and private LPs. Because the minimum investment for individuals is only $100K we felt it appropriate to share this opportunity with the Venture Mechanics early stage investment community.
Venture Mechanics is not a registered broker/dealer, and is not promoting this investment opportunity. But as Pier 70 Ventures is hosting their luncheon event at our facility we offered to invite members of our community who may be qualified accredited investors to also join the party. Two of the managing partners, R. Miller Adams and Bob Balk, will be presenting the opportunity.
The event will be held at 11:30-1:30pm on May 30th at the Venture Mechanics Startup Launchpad facility, 14110 NE 21st St in Bellevue. Please RSVP here as soon as practicable to assure we’ll have an open seat for you.
