About Event

Are you new to Hong Kong or have always been curious where are some of the best local eats in town? Join Ashley from Hong Kong Food Crawlers (previously featured on Channel 4’s Travel Man & BBC’s The Travel Show) on After Dark Food Crawl, where you’ll dive right into the heart of Mong Kok and Shum Shui Po for a night of nostalgic local eats.

Explore the “dark side” of Hong Kong - this food crawl will take you to the heart of Mong Kok and Shum Shui Po.

  • 1st stop: Ashley’s favourite childhood bakery that she’s been going to since she was 5! We’ll get a bit of everything including sticky rice pancakes with red beans, walnut cookies etc. It’s a family run bakery where nothing has changed in the past 30 years (in a good way!).

  • 2nd stop: Classic Cantonese diner where you’ll get to savour staples such as Hong Kong style milk tea, egg tart, Hong Kong style French toast, and a very special drink that’s not well known to most people!

  • We’re off to Shum Shui Po next!

Some might call it the new Brooklyn, but to locals who grew up in town, it’s THE neighbourhood that captures the very essence of Hong Kong culture and history.

  • Our 3rd stop: visit Ashley’s favourite dumpling spot in town for some freshly made steamed dumplings as pan-fried leek and pork dumplings. You’ll get to see the owners wrapping dumplings like a crazy machine at the back of the restaurant.

  • As we stroll through the neighbourhood, learn more about Hong Kong history, local culture of neon signs and dai pai dong.

  • After this, we’ll head over to an old school herbal tea shop that has been around for more than 40 years. Drink herbal tea like a local and get some much needed summery heat relief with iced, floral herbal tea.

  • Last stop: we’ll head to the OG dai pai dong (Hong Kong outdoor restaurants) in the neighbourhood for a feast. Watch the chefs cooking up a storm in the kitchen on the street, this restaurant is one of 21 dai pai dongs left in town. You’ll get to savour classic Cantonese stir-fry dishes such as stir-fry veggies with Cantonese cured meat, stir-fry clams with black bean sauce, deep fried calamari with salt and pepper, lemon chicken and more.

  • ** Ticket price is inclusive of all food & drinks.
