About Event

The Interoperable Deliberative Tools project began last year in July as a gathering of 21 deliberative tools that were committed to making their work play better together. Over the past year, we’ve moved from creating flat files for each of our tools to building out collaborative workstreams aimed at building the infrastructure needed to create wide-scale interoperability for open source tooling.

Join us to connect with more deliberative tooling nerds, get updates from these work streams on their ongoing work + hear about what is next for the interoperable deliberative tools project area in Metagov.

The Workstreams:

Open Facilitation Library - A working group to build a shared library and synthesized standards that can train human and machine agents to better facilitate discussion towards our collective shared goals.

Data Puddle - This group wants to build an open source ontology with a robust versioning and governance model for deliberative tools and an open source set of adapters that are able to translate the data from various tools into the shared ontology and back again to promote the technical infrastructure required to build easy interoperability between these tools.

Participation Ethics - Lawyers and Data Trust innovators (Superset, oak.ai) are working on a composable Terms of Service that small delibtech projects (e.g. MAPLE) can use.

Theory + Practice - Connecting (new) political theory with new democratic practice.

DRI in Polis - bringing in the Deliberative Reasoning Index into Polis as a new metric.
